Everyone has an expectation that the price of cultivated diamonds will become cheaper and cheaper in the future, which will affect the expected psychology of the industry and consumers, and have an adverse impact on the sales market of cultivated diamonds.
The color of the cultivated diamond is an important factor affecting the price, which is divided into two categories: the white system and the system with brown and gray-black secondary colors. Large international sales chain groups only accept the positive white system, such as the same yellowish tint as natural diamonds are also acceptable. With a more obvious brown, gray-black diamonds are generally irradiated into colored diamonds for sale, very slight brown, gray-black diamonds barely sold at a low price.
The white diamond made by the Lightbox of De Beers system is a positive white system. The retail price of the diamond itself is US$800/carat, plus the price of inlaid metal. So far, their weight is only 1.00, 0.75, 0.50, 0.25 karat four, color, clarity is not graded, white, pink, blue are the same price sales. At present, Blue Nile, a jewelry e-commerce company in the United States, is fully sold in more than 40 countries around the world. Their quality description is: color J or above, clarity VS2 or above, thus 1 karat J/VS2, US$800/carat, accounting for 15% of the Rapaport quotation 1 karat J/VS2, US$5300/carat. This is the retail price of round diamonds, and the wholesale price is about half of the retail ratio, other nurturing diamond players now have wholesale prices much higher than that. In the future, when CVD diamond cultivation technology becomes more mature, the price of diamonds cultivated in the international market will gradually decrease. If there is no good market mechanism to maintain the price, free competition or even vicious competition will be far lower than the Lightbox price standard. If other manufacturers produce more than 1 karat cultivated diamonds of different weights, colors and clarity, the Lightbox percentage of the price standard is used as the lower limit of the selling price, which can be higher than this standard but not lower. This standard is the price of the ortho-white system, and the price of other cultivated diamonds with brown and gray-black secondary color systems can be slightly lower according to the ortho-white system.
The selling price of diamonds below 1 karat can also refer to the Lightbox US$800/carat or slightly reduce the sales, so that the industry still has a good profit.
After CVD diamond cultivation technology matures, there is still a lot of room for price reduction, and the price will gradually decline in the future. HPHT diamond cultivation growth technology has reached maturity, and price reduction will squeeze the profit margin. Therefore, HPHT manufacturers can concentrate on small and medium-sized diamonds below 1 karat, and set up CVD diamond cultivation growth factories to make large diamonds above 1 karat.
