China's metal cutting tool materials continue to grow

In the world-wide industry, the proportion of tool consumption is about: high-speed steel tools accounted for 35%, diamond and cubic boron nitride tools accounted for 10%, and welded carbide tools, overall carbide and indexable carbide accounted for the rest. For example, if we use cobalt-containing high-performance high-speed steel or even powder metallurgy high-speed steel (P/MHSS) to replace the common high-speed steel, our high-speed steel tool manufacturing level can also be a step up.

In the world-wide industry, the proportion of tool consumption is about: high-speed steel tools accounted for 35%, diamond and cubic boron nitride tools accounted for 10%, and welded carbide tools, overall carbide and indexable carbide accounted for the rest.

However, this is not the case in China's tool industry. It is understood that China's domestic consumption of domestic tools, about 69% are high-speed steel tools, carbide tools accounted for only about 28% (the rest for the tool system, diamond and cubic boron nitride tools, etc.). Even with imported tools, in China's tool consumption, there are about 53% of high-speed steel tools, while carbide tools are 45%, while diamond and cubic boron nitride tools account for only 2%.

This ratio shows that although China has become the world's largest consumer of machine tools and the same is the world's largest consumer of tools, but our tool consumption structure can not even reach the world average. Our current situation is: although our machine tool output value numerical control rate and machine tool output numerical control rate are increasing year by year, but from the decline in the average selling price of its machine tools, we can see that our CNC machine tools may still be simple numerical control in the leading role. This means that the overall level of metal cutting in China is not high.
